Deacon Leslie "Fergie" Horvath 
Deacon
 
Fergie Horvath serves St. Christopher’s in Spartanburg and the 8 churches of the Piedmont Convocation. She has participated in outreach experiences in her hometown of Spartanburg: Cumberland, Tennessee; White Horse, SouthDakota; New York City after 9/11;  Ecuador; Haiti; and Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. She led several mission trips to Alabama after the tornado outbreak of April 2011, and a trip to Staten Island, NY after Hurricane Sandy. Fergie has encouraged the Piedmont Convocation to serve others by thinking about the basics first: love, food, warmth, and shelter. Fergie has completed Efm and in the Diocese has served on both the Matthew 25 and Bishop’s Search Committees.She currently serves on the Diaconal Formation Committee. Fergie also has experience as a retreat leader, a quiet day facilitator, and Christian Formation teacher. Her current focus is on identifying the gifts of others so that they can use those gifts in outreach for the benefit of the Kingdom of God. Fergie is also a volunteer chaplain for the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Beth Wichers 

Parish Administrator

Beth Wichers has served as Parish Administrator at St. Christopher’s since July 2012. Before moving to Spartanburg, she was the office manager at Trinity Methodist Church on Telfair Square in Savannah, GA.  Beth also has nine years of experience in higher education, working as the Associate Director of Marketing and Site Coordinator for Troy University. She also worked in student services for the University of Maryland.  She is a graduate of the University of North Georgia. 

Anne Denbow 
Director of Liturgical Arts
 
Anne selects music for services, sings, directs the choir, plays the piano, trains lectors and is responsible for dramatic presentations for services and Christian Formation. Previously, Anne was Director of Music at Church of the Holy Cross, Simpsonville, SC and she held several positions at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Pawley’s Island. Anne has taught at the college level in Ohio and South Carolina.  Earlier experiences include work in theaters in the US and cruise ships around the world.  She currently teaches voice and related subjects at Converse College, The Lawson Academy and USC-Upstate, in addition to maintaining a private studio.  
 
Margaret Hopper 
Organist
Margaret Hopper grew up in the Moravian church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  She began playing organ at age 11 and has been involved with church music ever since. She graduated with honors from Syracuse University with BM and MM degrees in Organ Performance. Margaret sings with the Spartanburg Festival Chorus. Her hope is that through her music persons are drawn close to God.
Raiford Collins 

Children's Ministry Coordinator

Raiford grew up in Columbia,SC and moved to Spartanburg to attend Wofford College. She then received her Master's in Early Childhood Education from Converse College. Raiford has been working at St. Christopher's for eight years as the part-time Children's and Youth Director. Growing up in the Episcopal Church, she was an active youth in her own congregation serving as a Youth Delegate to Convention one year and on the diocesan Youth Leadership Council for three years. Raiford is a second grade teacher at Houston Elementary School.

Kathy Ruchala 

Sexton

Kathy Ruchala is a Spartanburg native who graduated from Spartanburg High School. She is the mother of two boys, aged 25 and 23. She brings a wealth of experience to St. Christopher’s from her time in retail and customer service. Wanting to reap the benefits of her own experience and knowledge, she started her own cleaning business in 2001 and currently has approximately 20 clients, both individual and commercial. She began working at St. Christopher’s in March of 2014. She is easy going, enjoys working at the church, and brings joy with her when she enters the room. St. Christopher’s is blessed to have such a diligent, take charge kind of person to care for its facilities. Kathy is a big recycler and is currently engrossed in restoring her 100-year-old house, one room at a time.
